Mrs. Lauderdale attended the University Of North Florida. Her original majors were Communications and Psychology with the goal of law school. However, while completing a psychology class, she worked with a student who was completing her doctorate degree in Early Childhood studies. As a result of this work, she became enamored with how people learn and changed her degree to Elementary Education. She taught at the elementary level and then transitioned to middle school. She took time off to be with her children and it was during this time that she started taking classes that focused on learning and the brain as she was trying to help her two sons who were both diagnosed with Dyslexia. After that, she attended Ashford University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Science with an Education concentration. She then taught at the high school level, English/Literature and Algebra. She returned to teaching middle school in 2012. She has a Florida Professional Educator Certificate and is certified in Social Science 6-12, English 6-12, Elementary Education K-6, and Mathematics 5-9.
